Fairess Van “Jim” Brasfield

Mr. Fairess Van “Jim” Brasfield, age 96, passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, March 6, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born on August 12, 1926, in Gadsden, TN, to the late Fonza Brasfield and Nova Cherry. Jim was married to the love of his life for 76 years. Together, they enjoyed life to the fullest. Besides loving his family, fishing was his passion. Jim was also known for his garden and delicious tomatoes.
Those who are left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris Rodgers Brasfield; son, Ricky Van Brasfield (Kristi); daughters, Regina Brasfield Bolding (Jimmy), Pamela Brasfield Austin (Steve); brother, Douglas Brasfield; sister, Jane Carnal; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2023, in the chapel of Ronk Funeral Home with David Brinkley and Chris Rigby officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Oakview Memorial Gardens in Alamo, TN. Visitation for friends and family will be held prior to the service from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Ronk Funeral Home.
Pallbearers: Cris Carmichael, Kyle Austin, Travis Brasfield, Vann Smith, Lynn Carnal, Jacob Hutchison
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Children’s Department of the Alamo First Baptist Church.
