Local attorney Marcus Lipham was arrested Tuesday, March 17 for simple assault, domestic abuse.
According to an affidavit from the City Court of Jackson, at approximately 6 p.m., Marcus’ wife Shayla Lipham contacted dispatch after she stopped by to check on her husband at their place of business at 206 East Main Street in Jackson and was assaulted.
Shayla stated that Marcus was intoxicated and after she attempted to take the liquor bottle away, he pulled her hair and struck her in the face.
A witness at the scene stated that she observed Marcus and Shayla fighting in the business and ran inside to break up the fight. The witness observed Marcus on top of Shayla striking her in the face repeatedly with a closed fist.
The responding officer observed injuries incurred by Shayla including a busted lip.
Marcus refused to give a statement on the incident.
