Crockett County Director of Special Education, Katie Metcalf, helps many students across the county and has asked that the following information be shared for her students and their families. She has mailed this information to each student, however, occasionally there may be changes in addresses or updates that the school has not received and she wishes to ensure each student receives the assistance they need.
The first letter says:
PARENTS OF STUDENTS THAT RECEIVE SPEECH/LANGUAGE SERVICES AT THE FOLLOWING SCHOOLS:
- Friendship Elementary
- Gadsden Elementary
- Maury City Elementary
- CCMS
- CCHS
Today, the attached information was mailed to every student that receives speech/language services at the above schools in the county.
Mrs. Jodie Scott, SLP, and Ms. Hayley Haynes, SLT, have worked diligently to set up individual speech/language classes for each of their students.
I would request any CCS speech/language student that DOES NOT receive a letter with their special class code to contact Katie Metcalf [email protected] or call 731-696-2604. Please leave a message that includes your name and phone number. I will be able to access all messages remotely and will promptly return all calls.
My department is working tirelessly to ensure all students with disabilities have access to education and services during this unique time in history. We will be reaching out to more families throughout the coming weeks. Thank you for your patience, understanding and commitment to your children. We all miss them so much!

The second letter says:
Greetings from Ms. Hayley and Mrs. Jodie!
- First of all, we miss your kiddos more than you could ever imagine!!! Please tell them hello from us! If they would like to email us (or if parents have questions), Ms. Hayley’s email address is [email protected] and Mrs. Jodie’s email address is [email protected].
- We are going to start sending therapy activities for your child to work on while we are out of school through an app called Seesaw. Our class is called “Speech/Language Fun with Ms. Hayley and Mrs. Jodie.” You will find a step-by-step guide with your child’s individual code on the following page. Unlike other classroom apps, you will not be able to see the other students in the class so your child’s confidential information is protected. You will be the only person who has access to your child’s information. After you have downloaded the app and entered your child’s code to sign up, we will receive a notification letting us know that we can start assigning activities to target your child’s goals. These activities will not be time consuming! In fact, you should be able to complete them in 5 minutes or less.
