Reid Whitby is one of 732 Crockett County preschoolers now receiving a book every month, addressed to him, delivered right to his mailbox, thanks to supporters of the Crockett County Imagination Library.

This program was begun in 1996 by Dolly Parton in Sevier County and is operating in all 95 counties in Tennessee. All registered children living in our county are eligible to receive one age-appropriate book per month from birth to 5 years of age, at no cost to the families, regardless of income. The cost of the books and postage, $27 per child per year, is covered by local donations and matching funds from the Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation. Parents interested in signing up their children may obtain a registration form at the Crockett Memorial Library or register online at www.imaginationlibrary.com or the Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation at www.governorsfoundation.org. For information regarding donations, memorials, or honorariums, please contact Angel Holder at [email protected].
