The town of Alamo has seen many improvements with a tourism grant that has included lots of new signage highlighting places to visit in the town. A new display will include a steel cutout of Davy Crockett.

“Thank you to Charlie Moore who was instrumental in helping us get the grant and ‘ole Davy’ was her idea,” said Mayor John Avery Emison.

The steel frame will be lit up and replaced only for around six weeks each Christmas season, with a steel Christmas tree that is still in the makings.

“We are hoping this Christmas season that we will have a lighted steel Christmas tree if production is complete,” said Emison.

Emison is encouraging those who stop to take a selfie with Davy Crockett to use the hashtag #congressmancrockett for others to see.
