The Crockett County Chamber of Commerce announced Monday that its board of directors has selected Jordan Spraggins as the organization’s next executive director, effective Monday, August 24.
A life-long resident of Crockett County, Spraggins brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Jordan with his wife Abby Sellers Spraggins, local teacher at Alamo Elementary, raise their two children Joe and Rae in Crockett County. Jordan’s family roots here in Crockett County render his passion for the continued success of the county.
Previously, he served as captain of the Crockett County Sheriff Department. During his time as a ranking administrative officer with the Sheriff’s Office, Spraggins was provided the opportunity to build relationships with schools, clubs, local businesses, county and city government, state government, the federal government, and many more organizations and worked with these entities to improve our community. Spraggins has also served on the Crockett County Chamber Board of Directors from 2018-2020, Crockett County Joint Economic Development Board 2018-Present, Alamo City School Board 2017-present, Touchdown Club President and Police Benevolent Association vice president.
“I am both honored and excited for the opportunity to serve the county in a new capacity,” said Jordan. “We live in a great county and I am proud to be a part of it. Taking on this role in our community will give me the chance to build on the things that make Crockett County so great. Mainly it is the people that make Crockett great, and I plan to capitalize on that. I appreciate the opportunity that’s been given to me and look forward to the work.”
He is a graduate of 2018 Crockett Leadership, Leadership Tennessee NEXT (Class II), attended Bethel University 2013-2016 and is a graduate of Crockett County High School. He has obtained training certification from Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy, DARE Training, Tennessee Drug Task Force, Police Instructor, REMS Technical Assistance, Title VI, Instructor Development School, Stewards of Children, Active Shooter Train the Trainer, which aided him in his role at the Sheriff’s Department. This allowed him to develop top notch public speaking, leadership, team building, asset based planning, strategic planning and communication skills that will be a true asset with his role as executive director of the Crockett County Chamber of Commerce.
“Being able to see what the chamber does is a huge part of the adult leadership course and seeing what all is going on in the county,” said Jordan. “Without taking that course, you don’t realize all the things that do go on as far as small business and huge businesses and you learn about county and city government. It’s a great course.”
Jordan has served the community for 12 years in law enforcement.
“It’s bitter sweet,” Jordan said. “There are parts of law enforcement you love and parts you don’t love so much. Getting to get away from the part you don’t love so much is a plus but there will be parts I miss. Being able to help people, being there for people and the contacts you make are just not things you can get in any other career. I want to improve the community in a different way. It is an exit from law enforcement while still having the ability to serve the community in a different way.”
In his new role, Crockett County Chamber Executive Director Spraggins will be responsible for overall operations of the organization including chamber membership, business, economic, retail, industrial and tourism development. Also, Leadership Crockett, youth and adult, and representing Crockett County on a local, regional, and state wide basis.
“Improve on what the chamber has done so far,” Jordan said. “We have a good chamber of commerce and a good board of directors and past few directors. My goal is to come in and build on the foundation they have built and rely on them to ultimately improve our entire county.”

The decision comes after more than a month of deliberation and effort from the board of directors and the chamber’s executive director search committee.
“The search committee worked diligently to arrive at this decision and feel Jordan is the one to take the role to create boundless opportunity for Crockett County as executive director.” said Committee Chair Meredith Marbury.
The Chamber board of directors voted Friday, August 7 to appoint Jordan to the position.
