Lady Cavalier Volleyball team finished fifth in the state with a 29-3 record, winning district championship, regional championship and sectional championship. They’re ranked first in West Tennessee.

All-District first team awards were given to Citlali Aguirre, Hadley Mansfield, Anna Goldsby and MVP Bella Archie.

All-District second team awards were earned by Ellie Hoover and Kaylee Vaden.

District Tournament awards were given to Mansfield, Aguirre and MVP Hoover.

Regional Tournament awards were given to Vaden, Mansfield and MVP Aguirre.

This is the best performing team we’ve had in a while,” said Coach Bobby Rawson. “It has been a God send for me personally because the school year has just not been fun. It’s allowed some bit of normalcy.”

Seniors shared their favorite memories of this memorable season.

“My favorite memory was definitely going to state this year,” said Ana Pitts. “Also having a great season with my teammates, and spending time with them. We didn’t know how long our season would last in the beginning, and I am so thankful it finished at state. All the memories I had with this year’s team will not forgotten, but I will miss dearly.”

Madison Rhea said, “My favorite memory is being able to go to state with my closest friends my senior year. Also the record we have is a great memory.”

Ellie Hoover shared, “My favorite memory in volleyball was definitely going to the state tournament this year and beating East Hamilton, the team that put us out of the tournament last year. Also, we all love each other and believe in each other. That means more to me than anything else; something I’ll always remember about this team. I’ve loved getting to play with these girls and watch them grow as players.”

“Obviously going to the state tournament for the second year in a row will be a huge memory that all of us will remember,” said Hadley Mansfield. One of my favorite memories, though, will have to be when we beat Chester County in the region semifinals because that’s when we knew we were headed to state again. We set our goals and established our mindset at the beginning of the season and we accomplished all of it and more.”

A very sentimental Citlali Aguirre shared, “I have many great memories from this year. Each second getting to be on that court felt is a memory in itself. This season was not promised. Corona has put a stop to so many things. With the grace of God we got our season and it was one full of history being made. We finished 29-3. We made a comeback at Milan when we were down 2-0. We could have just given up after that, but we didn’t. We pushed our hardest and came back for a win. We lost against Camden in a small play day we had, but we still played another game after and got a win. We could have pouted and given up after getting our first loss, but again we fought and pushed forward. We won the first round at state. We fought against Chester County to secure a spot at state. That night will not be forgotten. We all came in with so many nerves built up inside, but we pushed them aside and fought til the last point in the 5th set. There are so many more memories to go on about, but the greatest has got to be standing hand in hand with my girls fighting not only the other teams but corona as well.”

While the season has ended, Coach Rawson boasted about his team and their determination throughout the season and how much he enjoyed having a team where so many shared the spotlight from game to game. “This is why it’s really hard to choose a player of the week for a whole week. They’re outstanding and work together.”
