Crockett County High School Lady Cavs began the New Year in triple victories against Lexington, Madison Academic and Bradford.
On Friday, January 3, the Lady Cavs played at Lexington defeating the Tigers 49-30.
Crockett took the lead early in the first quarter 15-9 and continued building a strong gap on the board throughout.
Mackenzie Butler scored 15 points, Yasmine Pankey scored 11 points, Haylee Rinks scored 7 points, Karmen Frost and Janiya Jones scored 4 points each and Kyli Henson, Ellie Hoover, Raegan Holyfield and Eden LaRue scored 2 points each.
Monday, January 6 proved to be another successful contest for the Lady Cavs against Madison Academic, 65-39.
The first quarter ended close with a single point lead by the Lady Cavs. An aggressive second quarter pulled them ahead 31-16 where they continued to battle strong throughout the final half for a 26-point lead to win.
Pankey scored 16 points; Butler, Rinks and Jones scored 9 points each; Holyfield scored 8 points; Frost and Hoover scored 6 points each and LaRue scored 2 points.
At Bradford High School on Tuesday, January 7, the Lady Cavs snagged another successful contest with a 3-point lead to end the game 46-43.
In the close battle, Crockett finished each quarter leading 16-12, 26-16, 38-31 and 46-43.
Pankey scored 15 points, Butler scored 9 points, Frost and Hoover scored 8 points each, Rinks scored 3 points, Holyfield scored 2 points and Jones scored a single point.
At Dyersburg Friday, January 10, the Trojans delivered an upset to Crocket 53-37.
The Lady Cavs struggled to gain a lead on the Lady Trojans from the start but battled hard offensive and defensively.
Butler scored 11 points, Hoover scored 8 points, Holyfield scored 7 points, Frost scored 6 points, Pankey scored 3 points and Jones scored 2 points.
