Investigation Ongoing in Crockett County Fatal Shooting

Authorities are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred April 18 at a residence on the 6000 block of Chestnut Bluff-Maury City Road.

The deceased has been identified as John A. King III, a 32-year-old white male. King was transported to Nashville for autopsy following the incident. According to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department, preliminary findings suggest King was fatally shot during a domestic altercation.

A female victim, who is several months pregnant, was also injured in the incident and transported by EMS to a local hospital for treatment. No charges have been filed, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department in the case. The area was secured as investigators gathered evidence, and officials confirmed there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

The Crockett County Medical Examiner’s Office is overseeing the autopsy, and authorities have stated they will provide additional updates as more details become available.
