County Wide Utility District wins TAUD region eight Best Tasting Water Competition for second consecutive year

County Wide Utility District of Crockett County was recently named the winner of the Region Eight Best Tasting Water Contest for the second consecutive year. Sponsored by the Tennessee Association of Utility Districts (TAUD), the event was held at Lakeview Restaurant on Reelfoot Lake.

TAUD Region Eight consists of Benton, Carroll, Crockett, Dyer, Gibson, Henry, Lake, Lauderdale, Obion, and Weakley counties.

In addition to County Wide Utility District, the other participating utilities were Dyer Public Works, Kenton Utilities, Northwest Dyersburg Utility District, Rutherford Water Department, Trenton Light and Water and Union City Water & Wastewater. Each utility’s water sample was judged on the quality of taste, clarity, and bouquet.

Participating as judges for the event were Jody Cline with Kamstrup Meters, Randy Bills with Hawkins Chemicals, and Jason McGee with Southeastern Tank.

This spring, TAUD will conduct the Best Tasting Water in Tennessee Contest in each of its 11 regions. Each regional winner will compete at TAUD’s 2021 Annual Business Conference at the Gatlinburg Convention Center on Thursday, August 12. The statewide winner will then represent TAUD at the Great American Water Taste Test held in conjunction with the National Rural Water Association’s Rural Water Rally in February 2022.
