CCHS honors basketball homecoming court

Crockett County High School celebrated annual basketball homecoming events throughout the week and honored their homecoming court during the Friday, January 24 contest against Obion Central High School.

Freshman Janiya Jones was escorted by her mother, Jessica Jones. She enjoys playing volleyball and basketball. Her favorite teacher is Coach Kayla Irvin because she is a leader and always happy. Janiya said, “Coach K tells her, ‘Don’t Pout JJ.’”

Sophomore representative, Carmen Spraggins, was escorted by her parents, Gary and Michelle Spraggins. She enjoys cheering and being with her friends and family. Her favorite teacher is Justin Cichello because he is funny and a great math teacher.

Junior representative, Olga Formoso Lopez, is a foreign exchange student from Spain. She was escorted by her host mom, Teresa Hickman. She enjoys spending time with her friends and her favorite teacher is Mirna Acosta because she is funny and always helpful.

Senior representatives included Raegan Holyfield, Janiya Cooper and Madison Webb.

Holyfield was escorted by her parents, Michelle and Kyle Holyfield. She enjoys playing basketball, volleyball and hanging out with her friends. Her favorite teacher is Beth Crider. Holyfield said, “ she is the sweetest human and always there for whatever her students need. Holyfield plans to attend Mississippi State University in the fall.

Cooper was escorted by Latonya and Willie Cooper. She enjoys baking, reading and listening to music. Her favorite teacher is Misty Garret. She described Garrett as someone who has guided her the past four years and helped define her future plans. Cooper plans to attend Middle Tennessee State University where she will major in social work.

Webb was escoreted by her mother, Shellie Pickens and sister Emmie. She loves cheerleading and spending time with family and friends. Her favorite teacher is Ellary Gillon. Webb said, “she genuinely cares about her students, their success and interest.” She described Gillon as selfless, caring, a role model and the best all around. Webb plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin and major in nursing.

Cooper was crown 2020 homecoming queen by 2019 homecoming queen, Ava Sellers.
