Cavalier football was moved up to Thursday, October 24 due to expected rain on Friday evening.
At University School of Jackson (USJ), Luke Pratt scored the first touchdown of the game with six minutes left in the first quarter. The Cavs continued to shutout USJ in the first quarter and scored again with a touchdown by V.J. Pillar with two minutes left in the first quarter, 14-0.
The second quarter proved to be a strong battle between both teams as a single touchdown by Pratt with four minutes left was the only score in the second, 21-0.
USJ put three points on the board in the last five minutes of the third quarter ending the third 21-3.
A touchdown by the Bruins right away in the fourth brought the score to 21-11 as the battle to continued with both teams recovering a fumble and Lucas Barger intercepting a pass within the final minute of the game to hold the final score at 21-11.
“I thought we prepared well this week and gave ourselves a chance to win. I thought our kids looked comfortable out there and played fast. That’s our goal each week as coaches. We will need to do that this week as well,” said Head Coach Kevin Ward.
The Cavaliers will play at Dyersburg High School Friday, November 1 at 7 p.m. for a chance at a home playoff game.
“Having an opportunity to play at home is good for our players as well as the fans. The comfort of your own home is a great thing. Hopefully we can play well and get that opportunity,” said Ward.
