As I announce my candidacy for Alderwoman for the Town of Alamo, I would like to take this time to introduce myself and my intentions for running for office. Many of you probably know me as Laura Argo. My parents are Bubba and Tammie Argo, and I am proud to say that I have lived in Alamo my entire life. I have been married to my husband, Nathan, for almost ten years, and we have a four-year-old son named Cooper.
I consider Alamo to be one of the greatest places to live, but I also think there is always room for change and improvement. I believe that part of that change could start with having a female representative within our city government. It is my understanding that there has never been a female Alderman in Alamo, and I would be honored to be the first. I believe that I could bring a wealth of knowledge to the table from the perspective of both a mom and a businesswoman. I am currently employed by the Crockett County Board of Education as the district’s Director of Finance and Business. I think my financial background would be a great asset to the Town of Alamo when it comes to budgets and grants that can help improve our town and benefit the people of Alamo.
If I am elected as Alderwoman, I will do my best to make sure the people of Alamo are heard and well represented. I want Alamo to be the best for all generations that live here and own businesses here. I want Alamo to be great for my parents’ generation as they enjoy their retirement. I want Alamo to be great for my own generation as we raise our families. I want Alamo to be great for my son Cooper’s generation, that will hopefully be the future of Alamo.
I would greatly appreciate your support during this election. Early voting is April 14th – April 28th and Election Day is May 3rd. I highly encourage everyone to get out and vote. You have the ability to vote for four (4) Alderman for Alamo, and I would be extremely honored if you chose me to fill one of those positions.
