Peggy Ruth Rice, 83, of Tiptonville, TN, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022 at the West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.
Peggy was born in the Cairo Community, near Alamo, TN, on December 17, 1938, to the late, Lofton Carlos Brown and the late Ruth Rebecca Klyce Brown. She was retired from Reelfoot Lake State Park, where she worked for 25 years, was a member of Cairo Church of Christ and was a member of the Tiptonville Women’s Club. Peggy graduated from Hamlett-Robertson in 1956, where she received her State Degree in Home Economics.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Tiptonville First United Methodist Church with Pastor Renee Martin and Mr. Darrell Lowery officiating. Burial will be in the Klyce Family plot at Cairo Cemetery near Alamo, TN. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the Tiptonville First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Randall Lofton Brown of Tiptonville, TN; nieces, Tina (Stephen) Brown Martin of Brownsville and Claudia Denton Moore of Alamo; her special cousin, “Sister” Brenda Lowery Williams of Gadsden; her great-nephews, Stephen (Jennifer) Drake Martin II of Grayton Beach, FL and Lanier (Grayson) Moore of Ashland City; and a great-niece, Grace Moore of Ashland City, TN. She also leaves a host of “adopted children” who have taken great care of her during her illness, Elizabeth Anthony Decker and John Robert Palmer, both of Tiptonville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Bill (Gradine) Brown, Doris (Jean) Brown and Jack Brown; and her nieces, Dena Lynn Brown and Donna Jean Brown.
The family of Peggy Rice would like to thank Tennessee Quality Care for their service and kindness during her illness.
