Early Sunday, May 24 around 3:30 a.m., Crockett County Dispatch received reports of gunfire on East Church Street in Alamo.

Virgilio Dominguez in custody at the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department.

Virgilio Dominguez also known as Arturo Dominguez, 36 of Jackson, is in custody and charged with multiple counts of reckless endangerment, domestic assault and aggravated assault.

There were eight to 10 individuals occupying the residence on East Church Street, where shots were fired. Dominguez’s girlfriend he was separated from was at the residence where shots were fired.

After obtaining Dominguez’s cell phone number, officers with Alamo Police Department (APD) and Crockett County Sheriff’s Department (CCSD) were able to locate his truck in Jackson near Regland Drive. Jackson Police Department (JPD) and Madison County Sheriff’s Department (MCSD) observed a vehicle leaving the area that contained the suspect. He was taken into custody by JPD and MCSD on the south side of Jackson and his vehicle was impounded by APD and the CCSD at the other location around 6 a.m. After recovering a search warrant, evidence was recovered from the vehicle linking Dominguez to the crime.

Although no one was injured, APD is pressing charges since the suspect recklessly discharged a weapon at a home with multiple occupants that could have caused injury.

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is being contacted as well. Dominguez is believed to be in the United States illegally.

“Thank you to CCSD, JPD and MCSD FOR assisting in this investigation and bringing this suspect into custody as quickly as possible,” said Alamo Police Chief Jeff Sills.
