Graveside services for Ms. Elizabeth Carter Edwards, 81, will be held on Tuesday, at Oakview Memorial Gardens at 8 a.m.
Ms. Edwards passed away on November 22, 2020. She was born on July 24, 1939 to her parents, Joe H. Carter and Clara Rooks Carter. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Edwards; daughter, Lisa Edwards Scallions; and sister, Betty Jo Dodson.
Mrs. Elizabeth was affectionately called “Buffy” by her three grandchildren. She lived at Brim’s Corner between Alamo and Maury City for most of her life. She enjoyed a quiet life there with a cattle pasture for a beautiful country backyard. Buffy loved animals and loved to look after them. Much of her time was spent with her special granddaughter, Alice. Alice loved to visit Buffy and her cats.
Buffy attended First Baptist Church in Alamo. Traveling, especially with her sister Betty Jo, was one of her favorite things to do. She also enjoyed spending much of her time at the Tennessee River where Betty Jo and many of her friends lived. Buffy encouraged and supported youth to achieve their academic and collegiate goals.
Buffy dedicated her life to loving Christ and her mission was showing his love to her family, friends, and strangers alike. She was a “caretaker” throughout life as she cared for many in sickness and would always lend a helping hand. Buffy knew all too well how important it is to cherish the time you have with your loved ones, and that is what she did.
She is survived by her son, Carter Edwards (Barbara); grandchildren, Alice Edwards, Jodi Barker (Mike), Traci Pipkin (Adam); step-grandchildren, Becky Henry (Ryan), Cody Woods (Cassie); great grandchildren, Michael Carter Barker, Joseph & Anne Pipkin; and step great grandchildren, Elissa Henry, Coaldin, & Lilly Woods.
In lieu of flowers the family request to make donations to The Kings Daughters School of Columbia TN (where her granddaughter Alice attends), Imagination Library, and Crockett Mission.
