Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Helen McCarley, age 87, will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Alamo Cemetery with Stephen Sutton officiating. The family has requested that anyone attending the service please where a mask.
Mrs. McCarley passed away, Friday, November 27, 2020, at the Alamo Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was born, November 18, 1933, to the late James Phillips and Annie Jewel Phillips.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Tolbert Fanning Cates, and Billy McCarley; stepdaughter, Debbie Colvett; sisters, Jewel Cooke and Patsy Jo Lee.
She leaves behind her daughters, Rita Cates Machota (Tim), Anna Cates Brasfield, Johnnie Cates Johnson (Darryl), and son, Tolbert Fanning Cates, III; stepchildren, Frank McCarley (Melanie), Bruce McCarley (Susie), Beverly McCarley Berryman (Howard); brother, Franklin Phillips; grandchildren, Katie Mansfield (Jason), Jessie Luckey (Keenan), Amber Carmichael (Chris), Travis Brasfield, TC Cates (Brooke); step grandchildren, Megan, Lanie, John, Becky, and Jake; great grandchildren, Jake, Rege, and Elizabeth.
