Mrs. Lou Etta Brown

Mrs. Lou Etta Brown, of Dyersburg, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020 at Jackson-Madison Co. General Hospital.  She was born Oct. 16, 1935, in Roellen to the late Major & Lacy Cathey. She was a graduate of Newbern High School and later took classes at Dyersburg State as an adult. She was a devoted homemaker and seamstress in her community. She was a member of Fowlkes Baptist Church and also attended Barker’s Chapel church.  She was beloved by her family and their friends as “Nannie” and enjoyed sewing for them and attending any function that her grandchildren were involved in.

She is survived by her son, Al Brown of Paris, her daughters, Kathy McLean & husband, Lyn of Newbern, Barbara Apple & husband, Howard, of Dyersburg and Stacie Tipps & husband, Jason, of Alamo. She was loved by her grandchildren; Heather McLean Volpe & husband, Jason, Heath McLean, Madison Taylor, Mason Taylor, Henleigh Tipps, Anniston Tipps, Erica Tipps, Jenna Davis and her great-granddaughter, Emma Kathlyn Volpe and her twin brothers, George & Franklin Cathey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Leon Brown, her parents, her grandson Jason Whitt and seven brothers & sisters. 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Danny O’Guinn. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until services begin and interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Heath McLean, Mason Taylor, Lyn McLean, Jason Tipps, Jason Volpe and Roy Bevis.
