Mrs. Melba Nichols Harden passed away, Sunday, January 22, 2023, after complications from a recent illness. Melba was the daughter of the late Dewey and Francis (Weaver) Nichols. Her memories will be cherished by her husband Lawrence Harden; daughters, Stephanie (Harden) Ramey and Hollie Harden; granddaughters, Stormy Ramey & Summer Ramey; son-from-another-mother, Charles Ramey; sister, Eleanor (Nichols) Bailey, and an entire community of friends and family that fondly knew her as “Ms. Melba at the bank”.
Melba was a retired loan officer for the local branch of the bank where she worked for 42 years as the company transitioned from People’s Bank/Community Bank/Bancorp South to eventually become Cadence Bank. She was well known throughout the farming community in the Gibson County areas near Frog Jump and Brazil where she helped her husband farm cotton for nearly 50 years. Melba was also a very strong supporter of her husband during his 35 years of service to the Alamo City School Board.
