Johnnie Mac Thompson, 81, was born on December 5, 1938 in Dyer County to Julian and Zella Permenter Thompson. He left his earthly home on September 30, 2020 in Jackson surrounded by his family. Mac will always be remembered for his humble, kind spirit and his fun-loving personality. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and Christian. He was a member of Crockett Mills Christian Church and was always willing to help someone in need. Mac enjoyed spending time outdoors and spent about the last 30 years caring for lawns in Crockett and Dyer County and was retired from the City of Dyersburg. He enjoyed visiting with the people he worked for when his job was complete. Mac thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with his family. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Williams Thompson; sons, Michael Thompson and Guy Massey; sister Billie Ellis. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Spence Thompson; daughters Mitzi Goff (Billy), Michelle Barnard (Dewey), Stacey Dunevant; step-son Kenneth Fewell(Dinah);grandchildren, Hunter Simmons (Kateland), Brittany Goff, Drake Simmons (Lauren), Asia Thompson, Holly Massey, Matthew and Ethan Dunevant, Perri Holcomb (Jake), Danni Fewell; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Brimm, Judy Pylent (Dennis), Patsy Dunevant; and a host of nephews and nieces. Services for Mr. Thompson were 11:00 am on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Friendship Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Stolarick officiating. Burial followed in Crockett Mills Christian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hunter Simmons, Drake Simmons, Matthew Dunevant, Ethan Dunevant, Kenneth Fewell, Eddie Spence, Jason Mansfield and Michael Mansfield.
