Important Parts of Your Home You Can’t Neglect To Clean

You’ve been getting by with completing the most obvious cleaning tasks in the house, but now it’s time to take things a step further and clean up some areas you might have never touched before. Learn about the important parts of your home you can’t neglect to clean.

Inside Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchen cabinets store everything your kitchen needs and then some. Foods, spices, pots, pans, glassware, silverware—the list goes on. Have you thought about how the inside of your cabinets might need cleaning, too?

Every six months, take out the items in your kitchen cabinets to give them a good cleaning. Work a little bit at a time so that you don’t end up with tons of kitchenware littered about the house.

Vacuum up any crumbs of food left in the cabinets first. Next, use a gentle detergent mixed with warm water to clean the cabinets with a soft cloth. Once everything’s scrubbed down, grab a new clean cloth to dry the area.

Baseboards

Another place that acquires dust is your home’s baseboards. You may not be able to see many baseboards since they’re covered by furniture. You may also hardly notice the immense levels of dust that accumulates in these areas unless you’re looking closely.

While it might seem like an irrelevant item to clean, wiping down your baseboards can help improve your home’s air quality. Removing unnecessary lingering dust will improve the overall appearance of the home.

Behind the Refrigerator

When food is moldy and spills occur on refrigerator shelves, you take out the items and conduct a deep cleaning inside the fridge. Most homeowners will only clean their fridges once every four months, at best. While this is a great task to remember when creating your to-do list, there’s one area that you may forget about—the space behind the fridge.

Once every three months, pull the fridge forward and start cleaning behind it. Use a coil brush to clean the coils of any dust and debris. This helps the fridge attain better ventilation which, in turn, improves the fridge’s overall effectiveness.

Beneath Furniture and Appliances

The area behind the refrigerator isn’t the only important part of your home that’s neglected. It’s essential to remember to clean beneath all furniture and appliances, too.

It’s common for people to forget these areas because they’re a challenge to reach. Out of sight equals out of mind. But the truth is that dirt and grime accumulate beneath these items with stunning rapidity and cause potential damage to the furniture, appliances, and flooring underneath.

Gutters

The areas inside a home aren’t the only spaces being neglected. When you take a look at your home’s roof, it may be hard to notice if anything appears damaged or unusual. But take a closer look at the gutters.

It’s necessary to understand why gutters are important. If you neglect to clean them at least twice a year, you risk creating multiple complications, including cracked gutters, rotting roofs, and clogged drains. They must be in good shape year-round to keep your home protected.

Slowly but surely incorporate these areas into your average cleaning routine. Before you know it, these cleaning practices will become your new normal!
