Senior Isabella Cook has been selected for the 2021 Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Good Citizen Award for Crockett County High School. She is the daughter of Colin and Courtney Cook of Bells.

According to Shannon Haynes, Key Corner NSDAR Good Citizens Committee Chair, the Good Citizen Award is designed to encourage and reward students who exhibit the qualities of good citizenship in their homes, schools, and communities and is open to all students enrolled at an accredited public or private secondary school. Students selected for this coveted award must exhibit dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.

Cook has been a member of the Beta Club for four years and is recognized as a Star Student, an award for an ACT score of 29 or higher. She has been on the Yearbook Staff for the past two years, serving now as Senior Editor. Selected as a class officer her junior year and chosen for the Most Courteous Senior Honor, Cook balances her school activities with community service. She consistently volunteers with Vacation Bible School and as a third grade small group leader at Englewood Baptist Church. Cook also helps with the Crockett County Youth Soccer League and as a volunteer with the CCHS sponsored regional cross country meet every year.

“Helping with various activities in the community has taught me so much about not only the people in this wonderful community but also about the community itself,” explains Cook.

She plans to attend Union University in the fall with a goal to perhaps one day work for a nonprofit organization or business as a communication manager but in a place that will “let kindness and truth be the loudest voices in my story.”

Key Corner Chapter NSDAR will honor the four area Good Citizen Award winners at their April meeting.

The DAR, founded in 1890 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children.
