An investigation was sparked after reports of shots fired were received from the area of Simmons Circle early on December 26.

Just after midnight Christmas night, Alamo Police Department, Bells Police Department and the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call where multiple shots were fired into a home at 166 Simmons Circle. Four adults and six children were in the home of Barry and Leslie Nance when the shooting occurred. According to Leslie, children in the home at the time ranged from three to 13 years old. She said, “The home is unlivable.”

According to Leslie, shots went through multiple rooms and through multiple walls from baseboards to ceiling.

While some individuals in the home were still awake at the time, all occupants were laying down for the night when gunfire irrupted.

No one was physically injured during the incident but the Nance family is fearful that it will happen again.

According to Alamo Police Chief Jeff Sills, law enforcement within all departments in the county are working to solve this case. This is an ongoing developing investigation.

“We are living in fear every day. We can’t even sleep at night. We have to sit up and watch over our children wondering if they’re going to come back because they didn’t kill anybody,” said Leslie. “If anyone in the community has any information please come forward. Stuff like this in these communities has got to stop. Some innocent child is going to get hurt. People should come forward instead of staying quiet if they know who’s involved.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is encouraged to speak up by contacting the Alamo Police Department at 731-696-4483, Alamo Chief Jeff Sills at 731-202-1018, Crockett County Sheriff’s Department at 731-696-2104 or through the anonymous tip center on the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office app in the Google Play and Apple store.
