Crockett County High School Cavaliers battle close contests to begin the year against Lexington, Madison Academic, Bradford and Dyersburg.
Lexington proved to be a close battle throughout on Friday, January 3. The first quarter ended 15-15, while Tigers took a slight lead in the second and Cavs took a slight lead in the third. A single point Tiger victory ended the game 48-47.
Kenan Dupree scored 15 points, Luke Pratt and Josh Owens scored 8 points each, Porter Lowery scored 6 points, Devion Lloyd and Cade Morphis scored 3 points each and Payton Currie and Hayden Moten scored 2 points each.
Keeping it close once again, Madison Academic fell short to the Crockett on Monday, January 6.
Madison ended the first quarter with a slight lead but the Cavs took the lead in the second, third quarter showed a nine point difference with Madison leading. Strong shooting in the third put the Cavs ahead to win 56-54.
Owens scored 14 points, Pratt scored 13 points, Lloyd scored 10 points, Currie and Lowery scored 6 points each, Dupree scored 4 points and Moten scored 3 points.
Cavs dominated the court again at Bradford on Tuesday, January 7 taking an early lead in the first quarter and maintaining throughout to win 58-44.
Pratt scored 16 points, Owens scored 15 points, Lloyd scored 11 points, Lowery scored 6 points, Dupree scored 5 points, Daniel Jordan scored 3 points and Currie scored 2 points.
Cavaliers were upset by the Dyersburg Trojans on Friday, January 10.
A strong battle with the rival team left the Cavs short at the end of each quarter leading to a Trojan victory 59-46.
Currie scored 10 points, Lowery and Owens scored 8 points each, Pratt and Dupree scored 6 points each, Lloyd scored 5 points, Luke Smith scored 2 points and Moten scored a single point.
