Carolyn Edwards Prescott, 79 years young, died peacefully in her home in Crockett Mills, TN, December 20, 2021. She was born in Cairo, July 3, 1942. She was the youngest of 9 kids from Willie and Mary Edwards. She loved her sisters, brothers, and their children so much.
She married her high school sweetheart and best friend Larry Joe Prescott on October, 10, 1959. They married at Pond Creek Congregational Methodist Church and were wed for 62 years. They had three children, Tony (Christine), Tracy (Eric Rank), and April (Walter Yearwood). In all they have 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grands with 2 more coming soon.
Carolyn helped Larry Joe farm for many years as well as held many “jobs” throughout the county. From Kellwood’s and Edna’s Flower Shop in the early years to volunteer work on the cancer floor at the hospital later on. She loved helping in the community from being on the school board, the chamber, the library, the Crockett Mills Community Center, etc., too many to list. She was one of the founding members to start N.O.A.H. and worked hard to get help for others in need.
She loved her Jesus with her whole heart, loved her church and church family but most of all loved her family and loved them well. She was a defender of her family’s reputation for sure and a master cook (especially her beans and ham!). If you ever visited their home you would know she also loved her flowers. Her home was beautiful, but her flowers were even better…her yard so full of color. Larry Joe and Carolyn also loved to travel when she was able. They visited over 10 countries and all over the United States over the years.
Carolyn has gifted her body to Union University for medical research…just another way she wanted to give back. The family would love to invite you to gather at Pond Creek Congregational Methodist Church on Saturday, January 8th for a celebration of her life. Bring your appetite and stories to tell! Lunch will be served at noon with songs to sing and memories to share during the meal.
In lieu of flowers, her wish would be for donations be made to N.O.A.H. (Neighbors Offering Assistance and Hope). PO Box 94, Alamo, TN 38001.
