Leadership Crockett County, sponsored by the Crockett County Chamber of Commerce, has selected the 2019-2020 class.

Dana Branch, Danielle Johnson, John Lattimer, Laura Bell, Lindsey Heglar and Matthew Beaird will participate in the Leadership Crockett class that originally began in 1989 with a goal of selecting individuals with a sincere interest in the community while showing leadership potential within the community.

The program runs from October to April annually and offers multiple sessions covering team building, agriculture, tourism, economic development, education and more.

The program provides participants with an opportunity to increase their awareness of strengths in major issues facing Crockett.

Equally valuable is the opportunity to become acquainted with people from all areas of the community, listening to their opinions and concerns for Crockett.

Dana Branch is the Crockett County Clerk and lives in Alamo with her husband, Ronald.  She is a member of Nance Church of Christ, where she also serves as assistant treasurer.  Dana assists with fundraising for Neighbors Offering Assistance and Hope and was formerly on the Board of Directors for Mid-South Youth Camp.  She looks forward to learning more about Crockett County through the leadership program and hopes to discover more ways to promote it as a great place to live and work.

Danielle Johnson is Marketing Director at Mid-South Industrial, Inc.  She lives in Jackson, with her husband, Joe.  She is hoping, through the Leadership Crockett County program, to meet new people and learn more about the area.  Danielle is looking for ways to become more involved in our community and hopes to use tools attained through the program to “help our company become more invested in the growth and value of Crockett County.”

John Latimer, Jr lives in Bells with his wife, Karen.  He is the HR Manager for the Pictsweet Company Bells Plant.  John hopes to gain a broader knowledge of the needs and resources in Crockett County from his Leadership experience, to be able to draw on his past work experience in local, state, and federal politics.

Laura Bell is a Private Label Sales Manager for The Pictsweet Company.  She and her husband, Nathan, reside in Alamo.  Laura is active in Alamo First Christian Church (AFCC) Relay for Life Team, is the AFCC Board Secretary, is a Pictsweet Ambassador, and lists having been Social Chair, Intramurals Chair, and Vice President of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.  Laura feels each of these activities have helped her “develop relationships with people in the community, as well as those outside of Crockett County.”  By participating in Leadership Crockett County, she hopes to gain a better understanding of our community and the issues we face every day while also gaining more knowledge about the businesses in Crockett County.  Laura desires to help others grow and hopes the leadership experience can aid her in finding solutions to ongoing problems in the community.

Lindsey Heglar resides in Humboldt and is a Financial Advisor at Edward Jones.  She has previously participated in Gibson County Adult Leadership, is secretary of the Jackson Cotillion Club, volunteers to plan & fundraise for the American Cancer Society’s Runway for a Cure, and is on the planning committee to help organize Jackson’s “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” event through Alzheimer’s Association.  Lindsey feels her participation in these activities has increased her awareness of the nonprofits on a local level.  Through Leadership Crockett County, she hopes to “gain a better understanding of the needs and resources of Crockett County in order to determine where my volunteer background and services can best be utilized to benefit the individuals, families, and businesses of Crockett County.”

Matthew Beaird is an associate at Wilkerson & Gauldin.  He has lived and/or worked in Crockett County most his life.  He attends Maury City Church of God, is a member of TSSAA Officials Association, Crockett County Democratic Party, TN Bar Association, and the Old Miss Alumni Association.  By participating in the Crockett Leadership Program, he hopes to gain perspective and build relationships with other local business professionals and community leaders while gaining more awareness of community activities and events.
